We Will Be Guided by Our National Interests: Pashinyan on Leaving CSTO

Currently, the activities of the CSTO do not align with Armenia's interests. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a live broadcast while answering citizens' video questions.

“There is a political will to make any decision necessary based on Armenia's interests, and we will be guided by our national interests, including whether to leave or not leave the CSTO. The de facto actions or inactions of the CSTO do not correspond to Armenia's interests, and we are raising this issue in discussions. We want to do everything possible to fully understand the CSTO and make our position clear to the CSTO,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, in 2019, Armenia tried to diversify its security, but it was stated that as a CSTO member, it could not be provided with weapons. “We are unable to receive the necessary support from the CSTO, and on the other hand, being a member of the CSTO is an obstacle to receiving support from other sources,” Pashinyan added.
