VIDEO: Over 10 kg of Methamphetamine Valued at Over 800 Million Drams Seized by Customs
The Armenian State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling continues its fight against the illegal transportation of drugs and psychoactive substances across the Armenian border. This information was provided by the SRC.
Recently, employees of the Anti-Smuggling Directorate's Meghri Division and the Southern Customs Administration inspected a bus operated by Iranian citizen Gh.A. arriving in Armenia from Iran. A brown leather bag filled with crystalline methamphetamine was discovered.
This bag was intended for a Chinese citizen, L.L., in Armenia. After receiving a similar package that replaced the original, L.L.'s wife, Armenian citizen S.K., was arrested. She had three additional similar bags at her residence which she surrendered to SRC officials. These bags were also filled with crystalline methamphetamine.
Subsequently, a Chinese citizen presented himself to the directorate and was transferred to the Investigative Committee's Main Directorate for Economic Crimes and Smuggling Investigations. Over 10 kg of methamphetamine, with a market value exceeding 800 million AMD, has been removed from circulation.
A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway.
