EU Can Stop Hostilities in a Day: Zakharova

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that the remarks of European Union’s chief diplomat Josep Borrell regarding peace in Ukraine are a facade for continuing the policy of restraining Russia. Her statement was published on the website of the Foreign Ministry. This information was reported by gazeta.ru.

Zakharova noted that the EU chief diplomat continues to baselessly accuse Russia of wanting to prolong the conflict, while Borrell himself has publicly declared that “the EU can stop hostilities in one day since Kyiv would not be able to continue military operations without external mass support.”

“However, the supply of Western arms to Kyiv, which the European Union aims to prolong for at least another four years, is precisely the contribution to the continuation of armed conflict by training Ukrainian armed forces in EU countries’ military bases,” the diplomat stated.

According to her, the discourse on peace, the neglect of international mediators’ efforts, and the imposition of Zelensky’s moribund formula are merely a political facade for perpetuating the policy of restraining Russia.
