The Blame for Closing the Border with Azerbaijan and Turkey Lies with Armenia: Hikmet Hajiyev
The blame for closing the border with both Azerbaijan and Turkey lies squarely with Armenia. This was stated to reporters by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the department for foreign policy issues of the presidential administration. Azerbaijani media report this.
According to him, this situation has arisen in the region as a result of Armenia’s policies of occupation and aggression.
“The conclusion of brotherly Turkey has always been that the normalization of relations with Armenia is possible if Armenia halts the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, renounces territorial claims against both Turkey and Azerbaijan, and finally promotes a positive agenda in the region. Azerbaijan and Turkey have consistently supported the normalization of relations and have always sent positive messages to Armenia. Of course, Armenia should approach the resolution of issues within the region by assessing the region’s potential,” Hajiyev noted.
