Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Appeals to Armenia: Talks May Continue at the Border
Azerbaijan is prepared for direct bilateral negotiations with Armenia to expedite the completion of work on a peace treaty. This was stated in a statement from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, which called on Armenia to resume negotiations for drafting the peace agreement. Azerbaijani media report this news.
It was noted that Armenia took nearly two and a half months to respond to Azerbaijan's proposals regarding the peace treaty draft, which significantly delayed the process.
“This stagnation in peaceful negotiations does not contribute to the stability and prosperity of the region. Azerbaijan is ready for direct negotiations with Armenia on a bilateral basis to expedite the conclusion of a peace treaty. We believe that both countries should jointly decide on their future relations,” the statement reads.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasizes that both countries are responsible for continuing the peace process, including choosing an acceptable venue or making a decision to hold a meeting at the state border.
“We urge the Armenian side not to allow further unnecessary delays and hope that they respond positively to this call to commence negotiations soon,” the information highlights.
