Azerbaijani Official: Armenia Must Understand Peace Roots Are Here, Not in Washington or Brussels

Armenia must understand that the roots of peace are here, not in Washington, Brussels, or Paris. This statement was made by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

"Armenia must understand that the roots, the seeds of peace are here, not in Washington, Brussels, and Paris," Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, told reporters.

He emphasized that in order to promote this peace and achieve serious successes, Armenia should look within the region and continue negotiations with Azerbaijan.

"Our country’s sovereignty has been established, a new status quo has formed in the region, and this status quo is legitimate based on justice and international law. The previous status quo, which Armenia created by occupying Azerbaijani territories, was supported by members of the Minsk Group that backed Armenia, and it was unjust and unacceptable," he noted.
