US Interferes in Unrelated Matters: Iranian Foreign Ministry on the Creation of Corridor in the Caucasus

The cooperation between Tehran and the countries of the region, including Azerbaijan, continues, and the Americans have no right to interfere in the friendly relations between Iran and its neighboring countries. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani. The information was reported by the Mehr Agency.

Kanaani responded to the remarks made by US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien regarding Iran's involvement in the creation of a corridor in the South Caucasus.

"The US makes grand statements and interferes in matters unrelated to them. Cooperation between Iran and the countries of the region, including Azerbaijan, continues, and the US has no right to interfere in Iran and its neighbors' friendly relations. The US should stop interfering in the internal affairs of the region and learn from the past. Such interventions will bring no benefits to the US," said the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative.

O'Brien had stated during a Senate hearing that the transport corridor, which would be created otherwise—through the use of force or with Iran's participation—would receive a strong response.
