US Announces New Military Aid Package to Ukraine
Washington has decided to provide another military aid package to Kyiv. This was announced on Monday by John Kirby, a representative of the U.S. National Security Council.
“In Kyiv, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced a new military aid package,” Kirby said during a press briefing at the White House.
The Pentagon clarifies that the package will include, among other things, Stinger MANPADS, a HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system and missiles intended for it, TOW anti-tank missile systems, Javelin anti-tank guided missiles, AT4 anti-tank grenade launchers, and 155 and 105 mm artillery shells.
Kirby reminded that the White House needs additional resources for further support of Ukraine. “We again want to urge Congress to approve the additional funding request that we have submitted so that we can continue to assist Ukraine,” he said.
At the beginning of November, U.S. President Joe Biden signed a two-part funding document that will prevent the government from shutting down. The bill does not include deep cuts to spending but also does not allocate funding for Ukraine, Israel, or the southern border of the United States.
