Israel and Hamas Deny Ceasefire Reports

On Monday, reports of an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of several hostages do not correspond to reality, according to the Jerusalem Post, citing informed sources.

“At this moment, there is nothing,” an Israeli senior official told the media.

In turn, senior Hamas member Izzat al-Risheq stated, “There is no truth to what is being reported by the media, citing Hamas sources, regarding a swap deal starting today.”

Palestinian interlocutors and an Egyptian source from Haaretz also noted that there is currently no agreement on a ceasefire or prisoner exchange.

Earlier, Jordan's Al-Quds newspaper had reported, citing a Hamas source, that an agreement had been reached on a five-day ceasefire, set to begin on Monday at 11:00 AM. Under the agreement, reportedly, 50 hostages held by Hamas would be released in exchange for 50 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
