Women in Gaza Pray for Children to Die Quickly in Their Arms: UN
The level of brutality and devastation in Gaza has reached unprecedented heights. Inhabitants of the enclave are praying for peace, but if that does not happen, they are praying for their children to die quickly in their arms. This was stated by Sima Bakus, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the UN Women organization, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"Women in Gaza told us that they pray for peace... if there is no peace, then they pray for their children's quick death while sleeping, holding them in their arms. We should all be ashamed for such prayers, for any mother, wherever she may be," she said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Bakus noted that the population of Gaza is currently living at an unprecedented level of brutality and devastation. According to her, "every hour, two mothers die, and every two hours, seven women do."
“Every day, one hundred eighty women give birth without water, pain relief, or anesthesia for cesarean sections,” she added.
