Azerbaijani President Aliyev: Armenia Has Become a Puppet of the French Government

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev commented that Armenia has become a puppet of the French government during a press conference in Baku with Iraqi President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid.

"We are waiting for a response from Armenia regarding our comments on the proposal. We have exchanged proposals regarding the peace treaty several times, but now we have been waiting for more than two months, since September 11, for the Armenian government to respond to us. We would like to know their opinion on these comments. But we have not received a response," the statement reads.

He noted that the reason is that Armenians are receiving poor advice, particularly from France. "France plays a very destructive role in the South Caucasus. In fact, Armenia has become a puppet of the French government, and this could pose a serious threat to regional stability," the leader stated.

"We do not need any war. We have fought in our territory, restored justice and international law. But the Armenian government and political elite are thinking about revenge. And the wrong messages from the French government create illusions among the Armenian government, and perhaps also in the Armenian public opinion, that they can again initiate military aggression against Azerbaijan. The weaponry that France proudly declares and presents to Armenia will not help Armenia if it decides to start a new war. The outcome will be the same, and no one will help them. Did France help them three years ago? No. Did they help them two months ago? No. What can they do here? Nothing. Therefore, I believe that the sooner we receive a response from Armenia to our comments, the better," Aliyev concluded.
