Government Makes Changes to Teachers' Voluntary Certification System
The government has made changes to the voluntary certification system for teachers. The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, has announced that as a result of the certification system's implementation, in three years, the salaries of 3,549 teachers have increased through this process.
“The change proposes to apply a salary increase of 200,000 drams for teachers who demonstrate results between 60-69%. This way, an additional 1,630 teachers will benefit from the salary increase through the voluntary certification system over three years. As a result, the total number of teachers whose salaries have increased through the system will be about 5,179. It should be noted that there may be duplicates here, as there are teachers who have participated in certification multiple times to improve their results. Nevertheless, this represents about 18% of teachers in public schools (28,024),” she stated.
The regulation will come into effect after the decision is adopted, including for teachers who demonstrated results between 60-69% in previous years, starting from the moment of the amendment.
Another important change is that teachers who did not obtain satisfactory results from double certification but have shown professional development growth or achieved threshold results will be given an additional opportunity for certification. Thus, teachers who score between 50-59% or have achieved at least a 15% increase in their results from the first to the second certification will have the chance to participate in the certification again,” she added.
