Ararat Mirzoyan on Armenia's and Azerbaijan's Future Relations and the so-called 'Peace Crossroad'
On November 15, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan delivered a speech at the 15th annual forum of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society held in Brussels, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his address, Mirzoyan emphasized that the Armenian government remains committed to the aspirations of the peaceful velvet revolution of 2018. He welcomed the EU's decision to establish a monitoring mission along the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that the EU is an important partner for Armenia, supporting our efforts to establish peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
Referring to the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he stated, “The Armenian government has the political will to regulate relations with Azerbaijan, another Eastern partner, and we are ready to move forward in this direction based on the principles adopted in Granada by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Council President Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Moreover, since we believe that peace and stability in the Eastern neighborhood largely depend on economic cooperation among partners, Armenia recently presented the 'Peace Crossroad' initiative as a testament to our commitments to establishing peace and cooperation in the region and beyond. Armenia is also interested in joining the 'Black Sea Electric Cable' project, and we hope that the European Union will support this ambition using its tools.
