Armenian Embassy Opens in the United Kingdom

The official opening ceremony of the new embassy of Armenia in the United Kingdom took place on November 13, during the official visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to the UK. Timothy Minton, the Minister of State for Business and Trade of the UK government, participated in the event, as reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the ceremony, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and UK Minister of State for Business and Trade Timothy Minton delivered welcoming and congratulatory speeches. The event was also attended by senior members of the royal court, Marshal Alistair Harrison of the connections between the UK court and the diplomatic corps, Deputy Marshal Victoria Basbin, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Development of the UK. The Primate of the Diocese of Armenians in Great Britain and Ireland, His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, was also present.

Below is the speech by Minister Ararat Mirzoyan:

“Your Excellency Minister Minton,
Your Grace,
Your Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear guests,
It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of honor that we gather here today to celebrate the opening of the new embassy of the Republic of Armenia in London. This embassy serves as a beacon of friendship and cooperation between our peoples, and this building stands as a bridge connecting not only our governments but also our economies, our cultures, and our peoples. By cutting the ribbon today, we are not just marking the opening of a building, but we are laying a new foundation for deepening our relations. We reaffirm our commitment to enhancing our political dialogue, our economic and cultural ties. Coincidentally, immediately following this opening ceremony, we are preparing to launch a new level of our relations—the initiation of a strategic dialogue between the Republic of Armenia and the United Kingdom.

Dear guests,
I am pleased to share this historic moment with you in this historical building located in the heart of London. Thank you for being part of this significant moment.”

The attendees also recorded their names in the honorary guest book of the embassy, where Ararat Mirzoyan specifically noted: “For nearly three decades, Armenia and the United Kingdom have worked to develop bilateral relations. I am confident that the new embassy of the Republic of Armenia will allow us to deepen the existing foundations over the coming decades, uncovering new horizons and addressing contemporary challenges and threats. The location of the Armenian embassy in this building, situated in the heart of London, demonstrates our willingness to deepen and revitalize Armenian-British relations for the benefit of our two peoples.”
