“Ukraine Did Not Conclude a Peace Agreement Under US Orders” - Viktor Orban

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has stated that according to information received from Budapest, Ukraine refused to sign a peace agreement with Russia in March 2022 on the instruction of the United States. At the same time, he clarified that this information should be considered ‘diplomatic gossip.’

According to the politician, the Hungarian leadership obtained this information from ‘various reports and intelligence data.’

‘According to our data, in fact, there was an agreement in Istanbul in 2022, where closed negotiations were held, according to diplomatic gossip, the Ukrainians did not sign on the instruction of the US,’ Orban said.

Viktor Orban also added that similar information had previously been circulated by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who was one of the mediators in organizing last year's Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. The Prime Minister of Hungary stated that it is reliably known that a draft peace agreement was already prepared during the Istanbul negotiations, and if it were not for ‘external influence,’ the parties would have signed it in the near future.
