Leaders of US and Israeli Intelligence Services Meeting Now
The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, the head of Israel's Mossad, David Barnea, and officials from Qatar are currently discussing the possibility of a three-day humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza to facilitate the release of hostages held by the Palestinian Hamas movement, reports Financial Times citing informed sources. The information was relayed by RIA Novosti.
According to the publication, the heads of U.S. and Israeli intelligence services met in Qatar today to work on plans for a potential humanitarian pause that could allow for the release of up to 20 hostages and deliver more humanitarian aid to the besieged area of Gaza.
The negotiations involving Burns, Barnea, and Qatari officials are focused on implementing a three-day humanitarian pause in Israeli operations for the release of 10 to 20 civilian hostages. It is also reported that this ceasefire could be used to obtain a complete list of hostages held by Hamas.
Sources from the publication note that discussions surrounding the release of Hamas hostages have made significant progress in recent days in Qatar, moving further away from other discussions.
