Some Figures from Artsakh Should Be Tried Under Serious Charges: Tigran Abrahamyan
Azerbaijan is presenting new demands for the surrender of eight villages. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the 'Honorable' faction in the National Assembly, during a broadcast of 24TV.
According to him, Azerbaijan aims to achieve the maximum during this administration. 'These territories have no legal grounds, but Pashinyan has declared them Azerbaijani territories, turning it into a contentious issue. Previously, it was said that we must hand over Artsakh to live in peace, but now they are ready to concede new territories from Armenia, supposedly bringing peace,' he said.
Abrahamyan also commented on Edmon Marukyan's view that state institutions from Artsakh should not operate in Armenia, as it is a mistake in a security context. He stated that the government is closing the chapter on Artsakh by destroying the last remnants and considering it a threat. 'The high political elite of Artsakh, except for a few MPs, have not yet voiced a political assessment of who is to blame for the current situation. There has also been no formulation of the path forward for Artsakh,' he added.
The MP noted that events in Artsakh have occurred that must be subject to investigation. 'Some figures from Artsakh should be tried under serious charges; there are numerous questions regarding recent financial abuses and the circumstances of the fuel explosion that resulted in over 200 deaths. The same goes for negotiations with Azerbaijan; Samvel Babayan claims to have negotiated with Baku, but no one knows who authorized him and what document it pertains to,' he stated.
