Pashinyan–Michel–Aliyev Meeting May Take Place in December: Media
Brussels is conducting separate negotiations with Armenia and Azerbaijan to organize a trilateral meeting between Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Charles Michel. This information was disclosed today by a senior European Union official to 'Azatutyun.'
It was noted that there are currently no specific results, but it is possible that the negotiations will take place next month. According to the source, the agenda also includes the issue of a route connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan. The European diplomat stated that during their meetings, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev assures that he has no territorial claims against Armenia.
"He assures that Armenia and Azerbaijan need to sign a peace treaty and resolve a number of issues, including prisoners, border demarcation, and access for southern parts of Armenia from Azerbaijan," said the European senior diplomat, adding, "All these issues need to be discussed, and this is exactly what President Charles Michel and the EU's special representative Toivo Klaar are mediating on."
It should be recalled that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the likelihood of signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan during the 6th Peace Forum in Paris, expressing hope that it would be signed based on the three principles agreed upon in the Brussels negotiations.
"The Azerbaijani president refused to attend the five-party meeting held in Granada last month. The trilateral meeting scheduled for October in Brussels did not take place, and I have not received an invitation to the next meeting from Charles Michel. I hope our EU partners remain committed to their obligations," Pashinyan stated.
