Restrictions on Access to Critical Technologies for Russia Will Be Strengthened
The Foreign Ministers of the G7 countries have decided to tighten restrictions on Russia's access to critically important technologies. The announcement was made following a meeting of G7 ministers in Tokyo, as reported by gazeta.ru.
"We will enhance our coordination on sanctions to limit Russia’s access to critical products and technologies," the document states.
It is mentioned that the countries also intend to continue working to close the 'loopholes' in anti-Russian sanctions. The G7 statement calls on third countries not to assist Russia under any threat of 'serious costs.'
Additionally, the group seeks to expedite consultations on metals and energy to take measures against the increase in Russia's revenues in these economic sectors as soon as possible.
Previously, the G7 had reaffirmed its unity on imposing sanctions pressure against Russia and its 'strong commitment' to support Ukraine. Earlier, the G7 had refused to return frozen assets to Russia.
