IDF Drops 6000 Bombs on Gaza in First 5 Days of War Against Hamas

Usama Hamdan, a member of Hamas' political bureau, announced that during the bombardment, the Israeli army dropped approximately 35 thousand tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip, according to RBC.

In October, the IDF declared that during the first five days of the war against Hamas, it dropped 6000 bombs on targets associated with the group in Gaza. Following an Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp, The Guardian cited former UN weapons expert Chris Cobb-Smith, stating that the Israeli army might have used GBU-31 or GBU-56 guided bombs (both weighing about 2000 pounds or 900 kg). The New York Times also reported that Israel may have used at least two 2000-pound bombs during the airstrike on Jabalia.

For comparison, the yield of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima is estimated to be around 13 to 15 kilotons (thousand tons) of TNT.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has released a report indicating that since the outbreak of the conflict, more than 10,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, including 4,104 children.
