Video: Beavers Attack Villages in Russia
In the Novosibirsk region, roads have been flooded and villages have lost power due to the actions of beavers. In the Iskitim district, the beavers have constructed numerous "dams." According to local authorities, the Gryaznushka River has changed its course, flooding the only road that connects the village of Starososyedovo to Iskitim.
Road workers have begun to dismantle the "dams" and remove water from the roadway, but one of the excavators even fell and got stuck in the swamp. Following that, the water also carried away the support poles of the power transmission line, leaving two villages without electricity.
Earlier, it was reported that the beavers in Novosibirsk had previously blocked the river with a dam in the Kalininsky district. The aquatic rodents used branches, leaves, and river mud to construct this water barrier.
Residents of the village joke that the beavers have defeated humans, with the score being 1-0. Experts say that these animals build such "dams" for protection from predators and to make it easier to find food in winter.
