Russia and Libya's Military Alliance Worries the US: Bloomberg

The US is concerned about the military alliance between Russia and Libya, according to Bloomberg. The agency notes that the countries intend to sign a defense agreement that could lead to the establishment of a Russian naval base on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

This military infrastructure would help Moscow gain a foothold on Europe’s “southern doorstep” and create “new challenges” for the United States and its European allies, the report states.

According to a former US special envoy to Libya, this threat is being taken “very seriously” by the US administration. “If Russia has ports there, it will allow them to spy on the entire European Union,” the article states.
