Bärbock Uses the Names Shushi and Stepanakert in Meeting with Bayramov

The head of Germany's Foreign Office, Annalena Bärbock, used the names Shushi and Stepanakert during a press briefing with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, which led to Bayramov's admonishment.

The Azerbaijani official demanded that his German counterpart "respect Azerbaijan's territorial integrity." Bärbock, for her part, stated that Germany has always supported Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and considers Nagorno-Karabakh a part of Azerbaijan. She also pointed out that the South Caucasus region is of interest to Europe and that there are prospects for economic cooperation here.
