The War Has Entered a Stalemate, Says Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces

The Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, stated in an article for the British publication The Economist that the military conflict with the Russian Federation has "entered a stalemate," and significant breakthroughs are not to be expected from either side on the front lines, according to Kommersant.ru.

“It appears that a deep and beautiful breakthrough will not happen,” the Ukrainian military leader commented. He acknowledged that Ukraine's counteroffensive has not fully met expectations but also noted that the Russian side has not achieved significant successes on the battlefield.

At the same time, Valerii Zaluzhnyi added that the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces can only be saved by a sharp technological leap. "The simple fact is that we can see everything the enemy does, and they can see everything we do. To get out of this stalemate, we need something new," he explained.

Zaluzhnyi clarified that it is difficult for him to assess the possible course of military operations if the situation does not change in the near future. According to him, the conflict in Ukraine has now shifted to a "positional phase," which is a negative signal for Ukraine.

The Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces believes that the authorities of the country will inevitably have to "expand the categories of citizens who can be called up for training or mobilization." He also emphasized the significant factor of "Russia's superiority in aviation and electronic warfare."
