Jordan Withdraws Its Ambassador from Israel

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, has decided to immediately withdraw the country’s ambassador from Israel due to the situation in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Safadi also instructed the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it may not return its ambassador who had previously departed from Jordan.

“This decision is a decisive expression of Jordan’s rejection of the fierce Israeli war in the Gaza Strip. It has led to the killing of innocent civilians and an unprecedented serious humanitarian crisis,” the Jordanian Foreign Ministry stated.

Jordan emphasized that ambassadors will be able to return only after Israel ceases military operations in the Gaza Strip. Safadi noted that Jordan will continue to work towards ending the war in Gaza. He spoke about the necessity of achieving peace in the region based on the 1967 agreement, according to which the capital of Palestine is located in Jerusalem.

Earlier, Bolivian authorities announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Israel due to operations of the Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip. Chile and Colombia announced they were recalling their ambassadors from Israel for consultations. All three countries have called for a ceasefire.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Bolivia’s decision as a “capitulation to terrorism and the Iranian regime.”

On October 7, Hamas militants attacked Israel, firing thousands of rockets, killing 1,400 people, and taking more than 200 hostages. In response, the Israeli Defense Forces began airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, and by the end of October, Israeli forces entered Gaza.

According to Palestinian sources, approximately 8,500 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since early October, including 3,500 children.
