It is Unacceptable to Speak with Azerbaijan in the Language of Threats, Azerbaijan's MFA to the US State Department
Despite the fact that the United States has been a mediator for decades, it has not decisively encouraged Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, instead providing financial support to Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by the spokesperson of Azerbaijan's MFA, Ayhan Hacizade, responding to the ‘anti-Azerbaijani’ statements made by officials of the US State Department.
“It is unacceptable to speak with Azerbaijan in the language of threats. Any unfriendly actions against Azerbaijan will not yield positive results, and there will be an appropriate response to such actions,” the Azerbaijani side’s statement reads.
The Azerbaijani MFA designated Armenia as an ‘aggressive state’, labeled the policies pursued by the Armenian government as ‘occupational’, and accused the United States of being inactive regarding the peaceful resolution of past conflicts.
“If the US had shown a different approach to threats against Azerbaijan, as well as to international peace and security, there would be no need to resolve threats against Azerbaijan by force, and the issue would have been resolved peacefully,” the statement continued.
It is noted that these remarks concern statements related to the US's support for Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the necessity for additional funding to address serious humanitarian needs that arose in Armenia following Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh.
