Vahe Ghazaryan: Penalties for Drug Trafficking Must Be Strictened
Mariam Z.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Vahe Ghazaryan, is confident that the penalties for illegal drug trafficking should be tightened. He stated this during the discussions of the 2024 state budget at a meeting of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee.
“I fully agree with the proposal for tightening (referring to penalties), particularly for possession of drugs,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs. He emphasized that the more severe the penalties against illegal drug trafficking, the better the results will be.
He drew attention to the fact that previously, drug use was also a criminal offense, but that article of the Criminal Code of Armenia was decriminalized.
