Hunger Strike and Medication Strike at Nubarashen Prison: Lilith Galstyan Raises Alarm
Member of the ARF Supreme Body, MP Lilith Galstyan posts on Facebook: “SOS! HUNGER STRIKE AND MEDICATION STRIKE IN NUBARASHEN PRISON
Last weekend, my colleagues and I visited the Nubarashen penitentiary facility to meet with Armenian citizens who are clearly detained for political reasons. We were unable to see A.A., who has been on a two-month detention regime due to the events of September 19 and 20; it turned out he is in isolation. According to credible information we have received, his health condition necessitates isolation and requires special medical treatment. Naturally, the conditions of the penitentiary are incompatible with this illness.
We present that A.A. has declared a HUNGER STRIKE AND MEDICATION STRIKE, which can have fatal consequences. Considering that A.A.’s illness is incompatible with imprisonment, MP Arman Ghazaryan and I have appealed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan, and Chairman of the Investigative Committee Arghishti Kyaramyan, suggesting that they consider the issue of changing the preventive measure.
Well, let’s see what the response of human rights NGOs will be this time…
