Clashes at Makhachkala Airport: What We Know So Far

After a flight from Tel Aviv arrived, local residents stormed the runway, reportedly searching for arriving Israeli citizens, leading to unrest. Shortly thereafter, authorities announced that the situation was under control, and the Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the airport had been cleared of unauthorized individuals.

More than 20 people were injured, including both security forces and civilians. Over 10 sustained minor injuries, while 10 were hospitalized, with 2 in extremely critical condition.

Due to the stabilization of the situation at Makhachkala Airport, the Federal Air Transport Agency has reduced the temporary closure period for aircraft acceptance to 6 days, until October 31.

The head of neighboring North Ossetia, Menyailo, has described the incidents at Makhachkala Airport as a planned provocation from outside.
