Attempts to Destabilize the Situation in Dagestan are Being Made from Ukraine, Says Regional Leader
Attempts to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Dagestan are being made from abroad, including via pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels, regional leader Sergey Melikov has stated.
"Attempts to destabilize the situation in Dagestan, including using prohibited methods related to incitement of ethnic hatred and inter-religious issues, are being carried out by our enemies, by opponents of our country," he said.
According to Melikov, one of the Telegram channels that calls on local residents to participate in protests is controlled from abroad.
"Today, we have received absolutely reliable information that the 'Morning of Dagestan' channel is being managed and regulated from the territory of Ukraine by traitors and Bandera supporters," the republic's leader added.
He also noted that as a result of disturbances at the airport in Makhachkala, two police officers were injured. "It is clearly known that two police officers were injured while trying to close off the prohibited areas of the airport," he said.
