Armenia Is Not Part of the North-South Corridor, Says Overchuk
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk has discussed the North-South corridor, focusing on the communication routes involving Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as Armenia's positioning.
Commenting on Armenia's participation in the North-South Motorway project through the construction of the road via Meghri, Overchuk noted that the Zangezur segment is currently not considered by Armenia due to a lack of a clear stance: “Armenia is not part of the North-South corridor; they have not yet formed a final position regarding the proposed road through Meghri,” he stated.
“As for the North-South, cooperation here is quite normal. Moreover, Azerbaijan and Iran have actually already begun the construction of the highway. They have effectively signed a memorandum on the construction of a railway through Iranian territory that will bypass Armenia and will run along the other bank of the Araks River,” Overchuk added.
