Armenian Interior Ministry to Update Road Cameras and Speed Monitors

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia will undertake the update of the speed camera network. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan during a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, which discussed the state budget for 2024.

According to the Minister, the issue of the photographic monitoring system was recently discussed with Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. “We will start work soon. I assure you that we will have a sufficiently modern system. This will lead to a significant reduction in traffic accidents. Today's speed cameras were installed in 2013, and their wear has reached an extreme level; the software is very challenging to implement. Starting in 2024, we plan to conduct intensive work on this,” Ghazaryan noted.

The Minister emphasized that in order to familiarize themselves with international experience, specialists from the department have been sent to several developed countries, including Singapore, Korea, and Kazakhstan.
