Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Macron's Statement in Brussels
Baku condemns and rejects the accusations made by French President Emmanuel Macron towards Azerbaijan during the meeting of the European Council in Brussels on October 27. This was reported by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
“The accusation directed at Azerbaijan by France regarding threatening Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is laughable and unacceptable. For decades, acting as a mediator, France has turned a blind eye to Armenia’s occupation of about 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory and has encouraged separatism in Azerbaijani lands. France has never carried out successful mediation efforts,” the statement read.
According to the ministry, France’s mediation “in the previous Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict ended with the Minsk Group.”
