Thanks to Whom Is It Possible to Unravel the October 27 Case: Andranik Kocharyan on Witnesses
The deputy of the RA National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, Andranik Kocharyan, is interested in the whereabouts of crucial witness Aleksan Harutyunyan in the October 27 case. He made this statement after laying flowers at the memorial dedicated to the victims of the 1999 crime in the yard of the National Assembly.
It should be noted that Aleksan Harutyunyan was an advisor to the President of Armenia and the Secretary of the National Security Council. After October 27, he was involved in the case as an accused and was arrested. However, in April 2000, his measure of restraint was changed. One person, Nairi Hunanyan (the leader of the crime group, who is serving a life sentence), testified against Harutyunyan, claiming that he played an active role in organizing the October 27 affair.
“Many important witnesses have died under strange circumstances, and we know nothing about some individuals. For instance, where is Aleksan Harutyunyan? He is an important witness, and while he is alive, there is hope for unraveling the case,” Kocharyan said.
According to him, there is a substantial amount of work left as a legacy for revealing the terrorism that occurred, which inspires great hope for achieving the desired outcome. “Many died in prisons, and the uncle of the Hunanyan brothers was electrocuted. Those in custody had the opportunity to be released after October 27, but I assume the investigation needs to hear from those individuals again. One of the members of Karen Demirchyan's party, Hmayak Hovhannisyan, now wants to undergo confrontation. The criminal action group is making the necessary steps in order,” he stated.
Kocharyan expressed hope that by October 27 of next year, the desired results awaited by the Armenian people would be presented to society. At the same time, he stressed that the case of October 27 is publicly revealed; the issue lies in the legal process that such revelations should follow.
