Zahharova Responds to European Commission President’s Statement on Similarity between Russia and Hamas

The statements made by the President of the European Commission regarding the similarity between Russia and Hamas are provocations aimed at inciting inter-religious and ethnic hatred, said Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.

“The world has already grown accustomed to the ideologically charged remarks of the European Commission president. She seizes every opportunity to promote an anti-Russian agenda. Against the backdrop of von der Leyen's statements, this represents extreme expressions of nationalism and xenophobia, a provocation aimed at inciting inter-religious and inter-ethnic hatred,” Zakharova's commentary on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website stated.

It is worth noting that earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, while speaking at the Hudson Institute in the United States, stated that Hamas and Russia are similar to each other.
