Police Announce the Arrest of Young Man Who Caused Gunshot Wounds to Two Residents of Kapan
A young man who caused gunshot wounds to two residents of Kapan has been arrested, according to the Armenian Police.
On October 23 at 23:55, the police received a report from the hospital indicating that a 38-year-old resident of Kapan had been admitted with a diagnosis of "penetrating gunshot wound to the anterior abdominal wall." Minutes later, another alert came from the hospital about a 40-year-old man from Kapan who had been treated for a "gunshot wound to the upper extremities."
Following operational-investigative measures, it was determined that on October 23 around 23:30, the hospitalized individuals had encountered an acquaintance of the 40-year-old man in the administrative territory of the Tatev community in the Syunik region. For reasons still under investigation, this acquaintance fired a gun he was illegally possessing at the Kapan residents' "Honda CRV" vehicle, resulting in their injuries.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Goris investigative department. Thanks to the joint efforts of the police and the National Security Service in the Syunik region, the identity of the shooter has been established. Subsequent measures and explanatory work led to the relative of the shooter voluntarily handing over a "AKS 74-U" type assault rifle to the Goris police, stating that the shots had been fired from this weapon.
At 04:42, the 32-year-old man voluntarily presented himself at the Goris police department and confessed to the crime. He has been arrested and brought along with the relevant documents to the Goris investigative department. The 32-year-old man is currently in custody while the investigation continues.
