Sweden has fulfilled all its obligations to Turkey and is ready to join the alliance, Stoltenberg says
Sweden has fulfilled all its obligations to Turkey and is now ready to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference in Stockholm. TASS reports.
“Sweden has met all the obligations, changed its Constitution and laws that allow for an expansion of the fight against terrorism, and has permitted the supply of weapons to Turkey. Now I expect its accession to the alliance in the near future,” he said.
The NATO Secretary General also announced that he anticipates a swift ratification of Sweden's membership by the Turkish parliament.
