State Duma Postpones Recognition of Armenian Driver's Licenses Indefinitely

The State Duma has indefinitely postponed the recognition of Armenian driver's licenses. According to RIA Novosti, the State Duma has decided to defer the recognition of driver's licenses issued by the Republic of Armenia for citizens engaged in entrepreneurial and employment activities in Russia, as announced by the press service of the State Duma.

"The deputies of the State Duma decided to postpone the discussion of the draft law on recognizing the national driver's licenses of Armenian citizens engaged in entrepreneurial and employment activities indefinitely. The draft initiated by the government had been accepted in the first reading back in 2022," the statement reads.

During the discussion, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the draft proposed giving Armenia additional preferences, even though Armenian deputies, leadership, and government have not taken any steps to strengthen the status of the Russian language. This decision is based on the allowance of using national driver's licenses from other countries within the territory of Russia.
