Erdogan Compares Mass Deaths of Civilians in Gaza to Genocide

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has characterized the mass deaths of civilians in Gaza as genocide. He stated, "Unfortunately, the international community is unable to respond to the illegal and unrestrained attacks by the Israeli regime on innocent civilians," in a letter marking the 78th anniversary of the United Nations, as reported by TASS.

He further emphasized, "We are facing very serious problems, from armed conflicts to climate change, from famine and poverty to Islamophobia. Since October 7, there have been mass destructions that amount to genocide in Gaza." Erdogan concluded by asserting that, in light of the recent events in the Middle East, the UN Security Council needs to free itself from the dominance of a limited number of countries and become more representative, democratic, and effective.
