US to Transfer Tens of Thousands of Artillery Shells Reserved for Ukraine to Israel

The US is planning to transfer tens of thousands of 155 mm artillery shells, originally reserved for Ukraine, to Israel. This information was disclosed to the American publication Axios by three sources familiar with the situation in the Israel Defense Forces.

These shells are needed for preparing a ground operation in the Gaza Strip and for use in opening a second front in northern Israel against Lebanon and Syria. Meanwhile, Axios notes that American officials have stated that the redirection of some military aid from Ukraine to Israel will have no 'immediate' effect on the course of the Russia-Ukraine war.

It is worth recalling that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has announced that an order will soon be issued to initiate a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. He made this statement during a meeting with soldiers from the 'Givati' brigade stationed near the Gaza border.
