We Are Ready to Ensure the Safe Passage of Azerbaijani Cargo and Citizens through Armenian Territory, Says Pashinyan
The Republic of Armenia is in favor of the opening of regional communications and there is no basis to blame Armenia on this matter. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the European Parliament.
According to the Prime Minister, Armenia is ready to restore the Meghri railway, which will connect Armenia and Azerbaijan. “In addition, the Meghri railway will connect the southern regions of Armenia with the northwestern part of Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan, Armenia with Turkey, Azerbaijan with Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia with Iran, the east with the west—from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean,” he noted.
Pashinyan mentioned that this project is referred to in Armenia as the “Armenian Crossroad.” However, in his opinion, this project is more regional in nature. Pashinyan also stated that Armenia is prepared to simplify procedures and ensure the safety of Azerbaijani cargo and citizens passing through its territory.
“There are analyses indicating that official Baku is distorting the corridor narrative to provoke a new war in the region, to occupy new territories of Armenia, or to keep Armenia under blockade,” he concluded.
