«I Am Not Done with Artsakh,» Says Serzh Sargsyan
Requesting that no one be granted peace or territorial integrity, former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated during a press briefing in front of the courthouse that the number one issue for the state has always been and will remain the security of its citizens and ensuring territorial integrity.
“Democracy and, in general, all formats are possible for this. Democracy is the best form, but do you think there is democracy in Armenia? If this is the state of democracy, then it is of no use to anyone. If there are over 20 political prisoners today, and if 150,000 of our compatriots have simply been exiled from there, then what kind of democracy are we talking about?” noted Sargsyan.
Responding to accusations directed at the leadership of Artsakh that they surrendered the territory, the former president responded: “The whole world is asking who surrendered Artsakh and how. What do former presidents have to do with that? The struggle against the realization of Artsakh's self-determination was fought not only by Azerbaijan but also by the Armenian authorities and the previous leadership of Artsakh.”
Sargsyan also declared that for him, the chapter on Artsakh is not closed, and he sees a chance for Artsakh to once again be Armenian.
