Court Hearing Today Will Reveal Whether Suren Aloyan Will Be Arrested, Says Lawyer

A court hearing has been scheduled at the Court of Appeals regarding the case of Suren Aloyan, the founder of the Dasaran educational program. This was reported to Tert.am by his lawyer, Levon Sahakyan.

“The prosecutor has submitted a request for detention to be chosen as a preventive measure, while we argue that no preventive measure can be applied to him, including bail. Today’s court session will clarify whether Suren Aloyan will be detained or not,” he reported.

According to the lawyer, his client has been charged without sufficient grounds, and the criminal case is subject to termination. “I cannot say what actions the investigation has taken after selecting a preventive measure, as it has been confidential even to the lawyers. However, if they show a little diligence, this criminal case should be closed very quickly,” Sahakyan pointed out.

It is noteworthy that Gevorg Altunyan, the former head of the Ministry of Defense's press office, has been detained for two months.

Gevorg Altunyan and four others, including Suren Aloyan, the founder of Dasaran.am, are accused of embezzling 106 million 300 thousand drams from the state through a method involving the insertion of false information into procurement documents of the Ministry of Defense. They deny the charges made against them.
