Yerevan Plans to Acquire 250 Electric Buses

Starting from October 13, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses have come into force, allowing the community to fine developers who operate their buildings without a completion certificate and permits. During a regular working meeting, it was reported that according to the amendment, the first fine will be 500-700 thousand drams, and in case of continued violations, it will range from 1 to 1.5 million drams.

“We are entering a new phase. Everyone must finalize their completion certificates. This again emphasizes that construction with project deviations will pose significant problems for developers, hence we urge you to remain within the boundaries of your project documents submitted to the Yerevan Municipality,” emphasized Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.

Using materials prepared by the Department of Trade and Services, three more illegal petrol stations been dismantled in the capital last week. Mayor Avinyan stressed that the operation of petrol stations near residential buildings must be stopped as they primarily pose safety issues.

The issues for residents of the 10th and 17th buildings on Arzumanyan Street will be fully resolved. New buildings will be constructed on-site through cooperation between the community, developers, and residents, and the residents will be provided with new apartments. It was reported that contracts will be signed with residents in the near future.

From next year, a pilot program for the ongoing maintenance of roads will commence in one administrative district of Yerevan. Under this important project, the winning road construction companies will engage in pothole repairs, crack sealing, road marking, and the installation, maintenance, and servicing of traffic signs and barriers throughout the twelve months of the year. There is a clear requirement regarding road markings: starting next year, the process will be implemented using thermoplastic.

As a continuation of the reform of the patrol police, the city authorities in Yerevan are considering establishing a community police force. The process has been instructed to begin. To develop the concept, the community is also discussing the issue with the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

The community plans to acquire 250 electric buses. Negotiations with the World Bank for implementing this project have already begun.
