Vagif Khachatryan Called His Relatives One Day Before the Trial

Vagif Khachatryan, an Artsakh resident held in a Baku prison for about three months, called his relatives one day before his trial. His daughter, Zovinar Khachatryan, shared this information in an interview with NEWS.am.

“We haven’t heard any news from our father after the trial. One day before the trial, we had a phone conversation with him through the International Committee of the Red Cross. He was anxious and asked us where we were at the moment, mentioning that there would be a trial, that’s all,” Zovinar Khachatryan said.

She stated that they continue to reach out to various organizations: “So far, we haven't received any calls or news from any entity. We keep applying to different organizations. All the bodies are dealing with his case, but there is still no result.”

It should be noted that on October 13, a mock trial regarding Vagif Khachatryan took place in Baku. In this fabricated case, 59 individuals have been recognized as “victims.” Khachatryan participated in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, which is the reason the Azerbaijani authorities accuse him of particularly serious crimes.

He was abducted on July 29 while passing through the Lachin corridor accompanied by the ICRC.
