VIDEO: A Drug Laboratory Discovered, 5 Arrested

As part of the ongoing criminal proceedings in the Abovyan investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee, extensive investigative actions have led to the uncovering of a group engaged in the illegal circulation of drugs and the production of drugs in laboratory conditions. This information has been reported by the Investigative Committee.

Specifically, a report was received from the Department for Combating Illegal Circulation and Distribution of Narcotic Drugs of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, concerning the illegal procurement, production, storage, and sale of particularly large quantities of various types of drugs by the group.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident under Part 3 of Article 393 of the RA Criminal Code in the Abovyan investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department. Within the framework of the proceedings, investigative and urgent procedural actions have clarified the locations involved in the organization of drug trafficking, as well as the identities of five members of the group, two of whom are citizens of the Russian Federation and three are citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

Investigators from the investigative division carried out searches at several addresses, in accordance with the law, and discovered various crystalline substances totaling 35 grams, a greenish substance weighing 8 grams, nine packages totaling 17 grams, a substance weighing 4 grams pending clarification, a glass container weighing 51 grams, various greenish substances, a glass dropper, a glass pipe and a glass bowl with burnt and ashes traces, and 30 plants of cannabis cultivated in bags, as well as various chemical substances. A glass container containing a greenish substance weighing 0.93 grams and items of green color containing gray burnt residues were also found.

As a result of the measures taken, the mentioned individuals were identified and arrested based on sufficient grounds for suspicion. A forensic chemical and forensic botanical comprehensive examination has been appointed for the criminal proceedings.

Measures are being taken to identify the involvement of other individuals from the criminal group, as well as to clarify the source of drug procurement. Instructions have been given to the relevant division of the police.
