Ukraine Will Join NATO, All Members Agree: Stoltenberg
We need to raise the stakes and continue to provide Ukraine with more weapons and ammunition. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a meeting of defense ministers from over 50 countries in Ramstein, according to Channel 24.
Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance. The Secretary General emphasized that the stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield, the stronger its position will be during peace negotiations.
“History must not repeat itself. That is why all members of the Alliance have agreed that Ukraine should become a NATO member,” the official noted.
Stoltenberg recalled the initial steps that have been taken to expedite Ukraine's accession to the Alliance. Thus, at the NATO summit in Vilnius, the cancellation of the action plan for NATO membership for Ukraine was agreed upon. He also announced the launch of a program aimed at aligning Ukraine's armed forces with NATO standards.
Meanwhile, the first NATO-Ukraine Council was convened. According to Stoltenberg, this meant that “your fight is our fight,” and “your values are our values.” He emphasized that Ukraine's security is the Alliance's security.
“We will support Ukraine for as long as necessary,” Stoltenberg stated.
