Kremlin Aware of Why Pashinyan Will Not Attend CIS Summit, Says Russian Presidential Aide

The Kremlin is aware of the reasons behind Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's absence from the CIS summit in Bishkek. This was stated by Yuri Ushakov, aide to the President of Russia, to journalists.

“The Prime Minister of Armenia, Pashinyan, will be absent due to certain circumstances,” he said.

In response to a question on whether the Kremlin is informed about the reasons for his absence, Ushakov responded positively. “We know, but probably he will explain it somehow himself,” he added.

According to Ushakov, a meeting between Putin and Pashinyan would have been organized in Kyrgyzstan if the Armenian Prime Minister had attended the CIS summit. “We have agreed that there will be communication with Aliyev, as he will be present at the meeting. If Pashinyan had come, I guarantee 100% that a meeting would have been organized with him,” said the Russian presidential aide.

At the same time, Yuri Ushakov emphasized that communications between Russia and Armenia will continue, as there is much to discuss. “Recently, there was a phone conversation, they talked on Putin's birthday. There were several substantive points. Naturally, communications will continue. There is much to discuss,” added the Russian presidential aide.

On October 13, a meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS States will take place in Bishkek, attended by the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.

It is noteworthy that yesterday Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a phone conversation with the President of Kyrgyzstan, stated that he cannot participate in the upcoming CIS summit in Bishkek due to several circumstances.
