Mariam Z.
Pope Francis has called on HAMAS to release all individuals taken captive from Israel, while expressing profound concern over Israel's "total" siege of Gaza. The Pope made this statement during his weekly audience.
"I pray for the families who have seen their festivities turn into days of mourning, and I ask for the immediate release of the hostages," the Pope's remarks were quoted by Reuters.
Regarding the actions of HAMAS and Israel's response, Pope Francis stated, "It is the right of those under attack to defend themselves, but I am very concerned about the total siege in which the Palestinian people of Gaza are living, where there have also been many innocent victims."
