“Israel Has Occupied Part of the Lands That Palestinians Consider Historically Theirs,” Says Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Israel has occupied part of the Palestinian historical lands, including through military force. He made these comments during his speech at the Russian Energy Week.

“As you know, Israel has been established, but Palestine as a sovereign state has not been created due to various circumstances. Moreover, part of the lands that Palestinians consider historically theirs has been occupied by Israel at different times and in various ways, but primarily, of course, with the help of military force,” Putin said.

He emphasized that the Russian Federation has always supported the implementation of the UN Security Council’s resolution on the establishment of a Palestinian state, noting that the “root of all issues” remains unresolved. Putin added that Russia's position on the Palestine-Israel settlement has been formed not just today, but over the past decades.
